Prof. Dr. Ricardo Rivero, Rector Magnificus
on my own behalf and on that of our whole university community I would like to welcome you to the XXIV Compostela Group General Council, which will be held at our university from September 6 to September 7 2018. Rectors and representatives from up to 62 universities will meet in Salamanca in the same year our university is celebrating its 800th Anniversary. That makes us the world's third oldest continuously operating university.
We would like to celebrate it with you and meet here to combine synergies and to debate key topics related to higher education.
I hope you will enjoy Salamanca's beauty as much as we "salmantinos" do. Salamanca, where most of the University's activity takes place, is a fundamentally University-focused and very lively town with close to 35.000 students (and a total population that barely reaches 180.000 inhabitants). As you will hopefully discover by yourself during the General Council, Salamanca is a scenic vital town with a university open towards the world.
With all my colleagues and co-workers I look very much forward to meeting you here in Salamanca in September,
Prof. Dr. Ricardo Rivero, Rector
